The Jackson Family & Passing of A Friend

// March 25th, 2007 // Joe's Blog

Man, yet another Sunday morning church service at my family’s home church down in Pike County, and it was a great one. Long time friends of the Burkes, Johnsons and Bentleys, The Jackson Family was a welcomed blessing during church this morning. It’s really amazing how blessed this family is. The Jackson’s are from Hurley, VA. If you’ve never been there, then you’re probably never going to find it. But just before you get into Hurley, there is this entire branch that strays off to the left side. Every single mailbox starting at the beginning of this branch is a Jackson. It’s like an entire Jackson army. As far as I know, there is 4 sets of singing Jacksons, Jackson Tradition, Jackson Family, Jackson Harmony and I think the newer group is all the younger members of the family.

Enjoy this mornings church service, as much as I did. Take some time and listen to God speak to your heart through The Jackson Family music and ministry. You’ll be blessed.

Rosie CrossI also found out this week that a dear friend of mine passed from lung cancer. Her name was Rosie Cross, and I found out she had died on January 5th. I got to know Rosie through an online music chat-room that allowed musicians and songwriters to come in, share the open mic and showcase their talents. Rosie went by the Yahoo ID angelbaby, and everyone always said that a room hosted by an angel is something special, and that she was. She and I became really close around Summer 2001 when I helped her build a small little web site for her Songwriters & Musicians project. We always stayed in contact right up until the very end. I think I last talked to Rosie just before Christmas, and even though she was short of breath, and could barely talk, she wanted everyone out there who was a part of her community to know she loved them. This is my way of doing that. God has a better place for her now, and I wouldn’t wish her back to this harsh world for nothing. God Bless you Rosie, and keep the Cross family from Royal Center, Indiana in your thoughts and prayers during their time of loss.

    Hi Joe,
    I loved hearing the Jackson Family sing..
    I saw some of their videos on You Tube last night.. Do they have a website? I would love to hear more of their songs. What a blessing.
    Thank you for putting this online..It blessed me so much when they sang Farther On..Last night was the first time I had heard them..I found their you tube videos on The Primitive Quartet site..Sure wish I had been in Hominy Valley this year when they were there..
