Lovely Bones & Fire Safety

Having known bits at pieces of the book, I went in watching The Lovely Bones without a lot of knowledge about what’s to happen next, and to be frank, I’m glad I didn’t know what to expect. The Lovely Bones brilliantly painted one of the most interesting portrayals of the afterlife I’ve ever seen on the silver screen. No one truly knows what the afterlife looks like, or what we as entities can do once we die, we just know there is an afterlife to look forward to. Depending on what religion, race, creed you originate, that afterlife image could be painted a million different ways. For the most part, however, this particular movie focused on Susie Salmon, the lead character, who was viciously prayed upon by a psychotic serial child murderer and rapist. How Susie coped with death, and how she couldn’t go toward the light until justice was rightfully served was very powerful and moving to me. The whole concept of this book/film, though dark and deceiving, ends on a jubilant note. I won’t spoil the ending for you, but I left the theater feeling good about my own life, and looking forward to how beautiful and majestic my glorious Heaven will be. Go see the film, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

On a lighter note, here’s something I thought you might find funny. It’s from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and he done a retro 80′s video on fire safety.
